IPL and Volkswagen Passat connection
IPL has been a mega event with eye-catching performances – be it cricket matches, opening ceremony, or a dance performance during the match break - from past four years. Besides entertainment, glamour, and excitement, charity is also part of IPL event. Thus, every year, during IPL event, some money is donated to the needy children or for nature or for some other noble cause.
In line with this, in the 2011 edition of IPL, German Auto Giant, Volkswagen decided to put Volkswagen Passat on auction during DLF IPL 2011 to raise money for World Wide Fund (WWF) - Nature (India). More importantly, this was done to support the ‘Go Green’ initiative and conserve the environment.
But, why Volkswagen Passat of all cars?
Volkswagen Passat was chosen for this purpose because it is accoutered with BlueMotion Technology which focuses on clean, energy-saving, and emission cut technology. In short for the German company, it was about creating awareness among people about its ‘going green’ initiative. And, what else could have been the ideal platform?
Thus, auction of Signature DLF IPL Volkswagen Passat took place to raise money for World Wide Fund (WWF) - Nature (India). Besides the elegant German car, another icing on the cake for the winning bidder was that the car was autographed by captains of all teams participating in DLF IPL 2011. The winner also received a bat signed by captains of all teams participating in DLF IPL 2011. The bidding process for the German car was carried out through eBay India.
